Eduard Haumahu

Eduard studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and has spent more than fifteen years working across photography, graphic design and art direction. Through his Amsterdam practice Studio.Edu, he brings those disciplines together, approaching each commission as part of a wider visual identity rather than as an isolated image.

Portraiture sits at the centre of his work. Eduard is interested in what remains when performance and surface fall away: character, memory and the ways people want to be seen and remembered.

That approach is particularly visible in his work as creative director and photographer for Stichting Levensportret. For the book Hoe wil ik herinnerd worden?, he created intimate portraits accompanying the stories of thirty people living with an incurable illness. The result is emotionally direct without becoming sentimental: photography as preservation, connection and testimony.
