Engel Mulder

Engel graduated from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and has since worked across fiction, documentary, commercials, music videos and cross-media projects. He also co-founded Studio Tandem, allowing him to move between cinematography, directing and the wider development of a film.

Engel's starting point is always the story. Light, colour and camera movement are developed from the inside out, resulting in images that feel considered without becoming overly constructed. His work is marked by close involvement with the subjects and filmmakers he collaborates with, and by an eye for the details that quietly strengthen a scene.

His credits include Ik Besta Niet, Candy Floss, Zomer and the IFFR-selected documentary Papa, ik ben.
