Marco Lubbers

Before moving behind the camera, Marco spent years as a competitive speed skater. It gave him an instinctive understanding of athletes: the repetition behind performance, the silence before competition and the vulnerability that exists alongside ambition.

He founded Catch Your Moment in Amsterdam in 2014 and has since directed documentaries, athlete portraits and branded campaigns in the worlds of sport, sustainability and human performance. His work often brings highly controlled production together with unguarded, personal storytelling.

Alongside filmmaking, Marco explores how new technologies can extend rather than replace human creativity. His projects move between traditional documentary craft, immersive experiences and carefully applied AI. In 2026, he also curated Speed Skating: A Visual History, an exhibition on Dutch skating culture presented in Rho during the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
